NO MORE WAR !

An Open Letter From THE PEEVER

Let's declare a DAY OF PROTESTING the war on April 16.

In 1971, Vietnam Veterans threw their medals at Congress
in a powerful anti-war demonstration on that date.

In their honor, and for all who have fought and died
or were wounded in Afghanistan and Iraq..
Please post some type of anti-war message,
how the war has affected you personally,
or someone you know.

Post a protest song with it, if you can.

Please pass this message on..
Especially those of you who get a lot of visitors on your site.

It's the least we can do.

THE PEEVER

DAY OF PROTEST: MONDAY APRIL 16.

PINK LYRICS

"Dear Mr. President"
(feat. Indigo Girls)

Dear Mr. President,
Come take a walk with me.
Let's pretend we're just two people and
You're not better than me.
I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly.

What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street?
Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep?
What do you feel when you look in the mirror?
Are you proud?

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry?
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Can you even look me in the eye
And tell me why?

Dear Mr. President,
Were you a lonely boy?
Are you a lonely boy?
Are you a lonely boy?
How can you say
No child is left behind?
We're not dumb and we're not blind.
They're all sitting in your cells
While you pave the road to hell.

What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away?
And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay?
I can only imagine what the first lady has to say
You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine.

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry?
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Can you even look me in the eye?

Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Minimum wage with a baby on the way
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Building a bed out of a cardboard box
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
You don't know nothing 'bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
Oh

How do you sleep at night?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Dear Mr. President,
You'd never take a walk with me.
Would you?

Lucy,

I did my post differently using something I found from the Vietnam war to make my point.

Lucy:

The United States cannot win this war in Iraq militarily. Our only hope is to try to preserve what little of our own interest we can while bringing some semblance of peace and stability to the region.

That's what the Iraq Study Group told Bush last December. He chose to ignore their recommendations and proceeded with the surge.

I don't do the child abuse postings anymore Lucy .....every once in awhile you may see one but it will have a blue ribbon in the corner of the posting signifying that it is a child abuse issue.....this is to whatever it applies to that wounds our innerselves.....

I watch George Stephenopolous on CBS every Sunday just so I can pay my respects to the fallen men and women that are serving in this illegal war. This week he listed 40 service men and women that were killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. I try to never miss his show.

I didn't have a chance to post today, and it seems a little silly to post this late, but I have been thinking about it. I don't really know anyone involved in the war directly, but the extreme loss of life is overwhelming. Sometimes I imagine my two boys grown up and how it would be if they were to die at war so far from home and my heart aches for the families that have been through this or will be going through this. So I thought of this song.
