Mean people suck.

I can read very, very fast.

I love the song Up All Night - Boomtown Rats.

I use to shave my head.

ENJOY....a blast from the past 1980 MTV

Up all night
Ooh za za
Ooh staying up all night

African jungle
Big city street
The only real difference is in
The people you meet

Up all night
Ooh za za
Ooh staying up all night

It's an agreeable town
It's neat and sedate
Why even the muggers are off
The streets by eight

Up all night
Ooh za za
Ooh staying up all night
Say it ain't so Joe, say it ain't so Joe

Polite and well spoken
Well heeded and well sane
They know they're alive
When they start to feel pain

You're staying up all night
Ooh za za
Ooh staying up all night
Up all night
Ooh za za
Ooh staying up all night
Say it ain't so Joe, say it ain't so Joe

Big city jungle
African street
The only real difference is in
The people they meet

 This and That Thursday

THIS & THAT THURSDAY

As I mentioned last week our very own Lady Lee of "Beyond the Dawn" has written a book!  http://shortales.blogstream.com/

Lady Lee's book titled "The Crack in the Southern Belle" is featured on a website called the Writer's Blog Alliance.  They have featured several writers and now they are running a contest.  Please stop by and vote for our own blogstream writer!  Click the link below to cast your vote.  Thank you !

http://www.writersblogalliance.com/

I have mentioned to a few bloggers about health issues I have had this week but everything is okay...so thanks!  I hate to complain since there are so many bloggers who have far greater health issues.

I know this first hand from my experience with Sweet Annie and her terminal cancer.  Annie would have been celebrating her 45th birthday this Monday.  I may finish my tribute to her during the week, if I can.

Colonoscopy - I have diverticulosis and hemmorroids (fun)

Biopsy from face - benign -I am very fair and used to think I could tan, now I am older and stay out of the sun but worry about the effects of all of the sunburns I have had in the past.

My oldest daughter cyst in her throat - that is okay too...apparently she has always had it since birth but we never knew it and apparently when she is sick it gets bigger...thank God it is nothing!  She was my first concern.

Type II diabetes - I am going to a new doctor tomorrow for this problem....I know it is because of not eating right and not excersing enough (at all)...so it is a life style change.

As the mother of three children I tend to neglect myself as I am sure most parents do....please take care of your selves and don't let things turn bad because you do not check it in time.  This has been a public service announcement from Dr. Momma Lucy !

As per a request from my friend Gloria from " Bits & Pieces"

 http://bitsandpieces.blogstream.com/

This goes out to our Canadian soldiers:

The average age of the  Canadian  military man is 19 years. He is a short haired, tight-muscled kid who, under normal circumstances is considered by society as half man, half boy. Not yet dry behind the ears, not old enough to buy a beer, but old enough to die for his country. He never really cared much for work and he would rather wax his own car than wash his father's; but he has never collected unemployment either.
He's a recent High School graduate;

He was probably an average student,
Pursued some form of sport activities, drives a ten year old jalopy,

And has a steady girlfriend that either broke up with him when he left,

Or swears to be waiting when he returns from half a world away.

He listens to rock and roll or hip-hop or rap or jazz or swing and155mm howizzitor.

He is 10 or 15 pounds lighter now than when he was at home

Because he is working or fighting from before dawn to well after dusk.

He has trouble spelling, thus letter writing is a pain for him,

But he can field strip a rifle in 30 seconds

And reassemble it in less time in the dark.

He can recite to you the nomenclature of a machine gun or grenade launcher and use either one effectively if he must.

He digs foxholes and latrines and can apply first aid like a professional.

He can march until he is told to stop or stop until he is told to march.

He obeys orders instantly and without hesitation,

But he is not without spirit or individual dignity.  He is self-sufficient.

He has two sets of fatigues:

He washes one and wears the other.

He keeps his canteens full and his feet dry.

He sometimes forgets to brush his teeth, but never to clean his rifle.

He can cook his own meals, mend his own clothes, and fix his ownhurts.

If you're thirsty, he'll share his water with you; if you are hungry, his food.  He'll even split his ammunition with you

In the midst of battle when you run low.

He has learned to use his hands like weapons

And weapons like they were his hands.

He can save your life - or take it, because that is his job.

He will often do twice the work of a civilian, draw half the pay

And still find ironic humor in it all.

He has seen more suffering
And
death then he should have in his short lifetime.

He has stood atop mountains of dead bodies,

And helped to create them.
He has wept in public and in private,

For friends who have fallen in combat and is unashamed.

He feels every note of the National Anthem vibrate through his body

While at rigid attention, while tempering the burning desire to

'square-away' those around him who haven't bothered to stand,
Remove their hat, or even stop talking.

In an odd twist, day in and day out, far from home,

He defends their right to be disrespectful.Just as did his Father, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather,

He is paying the price for our freedom.  Beardless or not, he is not a boy. He is the Canadian Fighting Man

That has kept this country free

For over 200 years.
He has asked nothing in return,

Except our friendship and understanding.
Remember him, always,

For he has earned our respect and admiration with his blood.

And now we even have woman over there in danger,
Doing their part in this tradition

Of going to War when our nation calls us to do so.

As you go to bed tonight, remember this shot..

A short lull, a little shade

And a picture of loved ones in their helmets
Prayer wheel for our military... Please don't break it. Please send this on after a short prayer.

Prayer Wheel
"Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us.

Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us

In our time of need. Amen."

Prayer :

When you receive this, please stop for a moment and say a prayer
For our ground troops in Afghanistan, sailors on ships,

And airmen in the air, and for those in Iraq.

There is nothing attached....

This can be very powerful.......

Of all the gifts you could give a Canadian Soldier, Sailor,
or Airman, prayer is the very best one.

I can't break this one, sorry

This is a ribbon for soldiers fighting in everywhere.

Pass it on to everyone and pray.

Wed - In The News - Creep Award !

IN THE NEWS WEDNESDAY

Creep Award !

I am not sure if this made national news but it made the NJ & NY news.  I am completely outraged.

Apparently a disabled girl died last year at the age of 22.  Her mother was the sole caretaker of this girl since childbirth.  Her creep father had nothing to do with her...never married the mother, had no visits with the disabled child and provided no alimony.

The girl suffered spinal cord injury during childbirth.  Because of a malpractice suit the girl's estate is worth $1.1 million and guess who came crawling out from underneath a rock...daddy!

To make matters worse, the judge ordered Daddy to recieve $400 K of the estate.

Creep Awards:

Daddy - Ruben Martinez of Staten Island, NY

Superior Court Judge Thomas P. Oliveri of Jersey City, NJ

I think it is unconscionable that this deadbeat of a father was absentee from helping to care for his disabled daughter during her lifetime financially and otherwise and now is awarded $400 K for donating sperm...because that is basically what he did before he left the mother and disabled child !

Shame on the judge for siding with this creep !
