LUCY
I have a few minutes at the end of a busy Sunday Lucy, so I thought I'd send you these beverage recipes:
" TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS/HOLIDAY PUNCH "
Six-Quart Punch Bowl Ice Mold
Ice Mold (Make several days ahead) Fill a plastic bowl or other mold ¾ full of water. Add 1 small jar of maraschino cherries (juice & all) and stir. Freeze until solid. Can be removed from mold and stored in freezer in plastic bag until needed.
PUNCH
4 cups of very strong tea - small can of frozen OJ 2 large cans of Hawaiian Punch (red) 1 can of apricot nectar or juice - 2 quarts of ginger ale - 1 quart of frozen rainbow sherbet
Chill all the liquids before making punch
Just Before Serving: Mix together all of the chilled fruit juices in the punch bowl, stirring well.
Add the chilled ginger ale, carefully. Stir once or twice. Carefully insert the ice mold. Drop scoops of rainbow sherbet liberally all over surface of punch. Serve.
(You can make 2 smaller punches, one at a time, by halving the tea, juices, ginger ale and sherbet, and using a second time over the same ice mold.)
Ok, well, it just wouldn't be the holidays without Ramen samiches! It's easy!
Cook the Ramen noodles and drain. Mix in the powder. It doesn't matter what flavor. Toast the bread. Heap the Ramen noodles onto the toast and then squirt mustard over it and sqeeeeeze it all together between the slices of toast and...
Presto ! Enjoy !
***Friendly Tip: When you are done eating the Ramen Noodle Sandwich, lie down on the sofa and be still. It helps keep it down.***
So, what was your favorite Christmas gift you recieved AND the your favorite gift that you gave ?
My favorite was from CH, I recieved perfume that I mentioned I liked only once and got it....it is LOVELY !
My husband is so good to me...I just adore him.
Cute story...last week CH and I went to one of his work parties...you know how that goes...all prim and proper - professional.
So we are on the buffet line and I turned and whispered in his ear...'come on baby...give me some tongue...right here and right now'....he nearly spit out his martini he was laughing so hard.
He thinks I am completely out of my bloody mind. lol
This is one of my favorite pix and was actually taken by Sweet Annie...
This is taken in Yogi Berra's bar by Central Park....YB is one of my step-father's good friends.
This photo is taken at a Christmas party.
The one thing that I love about my husband - besides being HOT is that we crack each other up..we are always laughing and giggling and have inside jokes no matter what the circumstance.
He is truly my best friend.
My favorite gift I gave was my little photo albums that I did online at SHUTTERFLY.COM...it kind of resembles a year book.
I made one for my mom and one for CH's mom.
My mother cried when she looked at hers...I did all photos of the grandkids through out the year and towards the end of the book, I did beach scenes of the family.
On the last two pages I did one of her mom on the beach and one of her aunt....both deceased....it was so beautiful !
We all cried.
This is my Irish Grandma...she was so funny.
She taught me a few things like how to make scrambled eggs, play solitaire and make a screwdriver !
All for breakfast !
She had 11 kids so I have tons and tons of first cousins. We are all close and get together often. It's always a party.
She also taught me to always be honest and good....and whenever I saw a bright blue sky with white puffy clouds to think of her.
This in my Aunt Eleanor in 1954, my grandmother's sister....she was a friggin trip !
She lived on the beach in NJ.....and was always so much fun to be around.
She and her husband Sonny...
(we use to sing that song to him Sonny...thank you for the time...and he would respond "Scooby Dooby Doo" & always had on checkered pants and a pastel shirt with a cap on)...
never had children so I was like a grandaughter to them.
She always posed for pictures like this and was always up for a dip in the water and a drinky-poo !
She was ahead of her time and cut the nipples out of her bras......too funny !
She smoked pot for the first time at like 60 with a life guard.
All of this while being a Catholic school teacher.
There was also a third sister who was a nun and loved to sneak smokes and drink vodka...lolol !!
She was a mother superior and principal of a school.
Her 'nun name' was Sister Mary Margaret but to us she was just Aunt Aggie, her given name Agnes.
I think this is where my fascination of nuns comes from...I collect nun dolls.
This is a house on the beach that we often stayed at.
I think she is holding my second cousin Madonna....yep, that's her real name.
I will give CH mom her photo book on Wednesday when we go into the city.... I have a few old pictures of CH and his sister taken in Cuba.
When they came to America they could not take anything but the clothes on their backs but CH's mom hid a few pix in her bra and brought them here....they are so cute !
This is CH and his sister ....
I am very close to his sister and mom...I lucked out with the in-law department this time..I am truly blessed.
Hopefully we can visit the tree at Rockefeller Center and St. Patrick's Cathedral.
Please share your favorite gifts & photos !
I am one of those pain in the butt people who is always taking pictures of family and friends...I always have a disposable camera in my purse.
So, each Christmas I make photo albums with the duplicates for each of my daughters, my mother, my dad, my sister, my brother, my favorite cousin Carli, my mother in law and a couple of friends...
They all complain when I take pix but always appreciate the gift !

We thank You for the numerous blessings You have bestowed on us. We thank You for our family, friends and this sense of community we have found as we meet and greet each other here in Blogstream.
Many faiths and paths are represented in our internet community. We ask that You give each of us a spirit that accepts our differences. Help us discuss and debate the thorny issues of life without animosity and rancor. Let our friendship and respect for one another grow as we form cyber friendships that stretches around the globe.
We gather tonight to watch a movie that reflects a part of our individual faith and beliefs as represented in the way we celebrate this holiday season.
Help us give thanks and praise to You our Creator as we trim the Christmas tree, light the candles of Hanukkah or Kwanzaa, or celebrate Solstice.
Truly, we are brothers and sisters...part of the family of man.
Help us walk together in friendship and harmony.
Guide us through the remainder of this year...and into the new adventure of 2007.
Once more, we thank and praise You for everything.
Amen.
BOOKWORM
Great Spirit:
We thank you for all our blessings, Both those we recognize and those we take for granted.
At this time of year, we look around us, and know that our biggest blessings are the people we cherish.
Help us continue to expand our awareness of the needs of those around us, and how we can best serve you by serving them.
Guide those who make the decisions that effect our country. Bring our troops home and help those we leave behind to find peace.
Thank you for the gentleness that comes with the innocence of a child.
We pray that the love and joy of this season be felt throughout the year.
Brrrrrrrr....damn, New York is as cold as Ohio was when I left.
I'm off to interview Sherry from Sherries Cherries.
I've been driving all night without a radio, or a heater. They went on the blink around the time I hit Ottawa.
(Yawn) Whoa, better stay awake.
Maybe I'll try singing.
"Sher-er-er er ery, Bay-ay-by, {Sherry Baby}
She-eh-erry will you come out tonite.
Come, come, get interview-oo-oo-ood."
(Yawn)
Ok, that didn't work.
"Oh Sherry, OUR LOVE....no, totally inappropriate. She's a married lady.
(Yawn) Damn.
(...I'll give him a bust in the mouth)
Oh my, why am I remembering that? Get hold of yourself, Fuzzy.
((((THAT"S NOT WHAT I MEANT ! ))))
Jeez, lousy conscience.
One more song.
Yeah, she likes Roy Orbison.
"I DROVE ALL NIIIIIGHT, TO GE-ET TO YOU. Is that alright....
Ok, there's where we're meeting.
Her directions were right on the money. I had no idea going through Canada was a shortcut.
I'm parking the car.
Hmm, I thought it was a strange name for a residence.
"The Seduction Inn" looms in all its glory in front of my eyes.
Zappa Fans words to Sherry come back to me:
"The fact that you are a sexual deviant just makes you more special."
With a trembling hand, I knock on the door of Room 71-2.
INSIDE ROOM 71-2
I hear the knock on the door and suddenly get very nervous. Strange that suddenly I should feel like a schoolgirl opening the door to her first date.
One last look in the mirror, "Just a moment", I call out. I walk to the door and slowly open it.
He really does look like a mature Brad Pitt, runs through my mind. Oh my, he's so gray, he must be freezing, I think.
Welcome Fuzzy, you look cold. Come on in and warm yourself. Let me take your coat. Here, maybe you better sit close to the fireplace, you look as if the cold has really done you in.
I think to myself, maybe you should lie down and let me warm you. My, my, I can't get over how gray his skin is. As I brush my hand across his cheek, he pulls back slightly and starts to shiver.
Oh, you're cold, let me get you a blanket and sit beside you and we'll begin the interview. Can I get you something to drink? Are you comfortable? Is their anything else you need at the moment?
Well, my friend, it's a pleasure to meet you at last. I must admit that I have been a bit nervous about this, and I'm sure you think I'm smothering you with all this attention, but I just want to see you warm and comfortable before we begin.
I'm acting silly and I hope I'm not offending you, but you look so gray..er...cold.
Hmm, I think I'll have to see if there's anything I can do to put a little color in his cheeks. Maybe a reference to the family jewels will do it.
We'll see how this interview goes. I must admit, he's quite attractive.
Nice to meet you too, Sherry.
Yeah, the heater went out in my car. I'll get to my usual color pretty quick.
Thanks for the shortcut through Canada tip.
Mapquest didn't have that one.
I guess we should get the interview started.
Ready?
Fire away.
Ok, well, first off, let me just say, you are one of the treasures of Blogstream. Your heart and humanity shine through in every single post. And a big plus for me is your sense of humor.
Many of us already know this, but for the newer Streamers, explain how the name "Raindrops Make Things Beautiful" came about.
My Mom died this year on March 21, and strangely, my youngest stepson showed up that same night with a new computer he bought to replace my old IBM which was too slow to go online with.
I was underwhelmed to say the least. We waited a few days to hook it up, and I needed to learn how to use the XP application of Windows.
I am challenged you know. Very.
On April 26, I went on-line for the first time in my life and accidentally stumbled on Blogstream.
I waited two hours and signed up. I never intended to do a blog, just reading and commenting.
That changed within two days. On April 28 I created my blog.
I intended on calling it "Lucky Frogs, They Eat What Bugs Them".
At the last minute I thought about Mom telling me that "raindrops make things beautiful" every time I complained about something not going right.
Next thing I know, that's what I typed as a blog title.
Some days I still feel her with me when I sit down to blog.
What was it that prompted you to start your blog after two days of reading and commenting?
I just felt this overwhelming urge to connect with people on a cerebral plane. My real friends are all intelligent, giving human beings but so involved with life that they have no interest in expanding the mind.
The give and take that I saw in the comments just blew me away.
I needed a way to get things out that were bothering me.
I wanted exposure to new ideas and a wider view of my world.
Well, I usually use the wide angle on my binoculars for a wider view of the world.
Let's talk about your growing up in what I consider the greatest decade ever, "The Sixties".
What are your fondest memories and conversely, your uh...un-fondest memories?
Fondest memories of the 60's.
Going to the dances, and I did a lot of dancing, USO Junior Hostess, school dances and proms.
Even dances at the local Catholic elementary school. They usually had local bands that weren't bad at all.
Necking in the back seat of cars. Being too chicken to go all the way, was I a tease? Ummm, a little bit, same as I am now.
English classes, history classes, those were my favs.
Being involved with the Young Democrats of America.
Having my own money because I had a neighborhood babysitting business. Three families that use to schedule me way in advance, and one for after school from 3:30 to 5:30.
The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Doors, Paul Revere and the Raiders, Manfred Mann, Byrds, Cream, the Hollies etc. The music was great.
If they'd invented birth control pills a few years earlier, I might have had a LOT more fun.
Yes, I did all those things too.
Except for the dancing and babysitting. And being too chicken to go all the way. And being a USO Junior Hostess.
Un-fondest memories?
Unfondest memories.
The Viet Nam War, assassinations of JFK, Martin Luther King, and Bobby Kennedy.
The death of my Great Grandad, my parents divorce.
The loss of a schoolmate to cancer. His name was Pete.
The arrest of my favorite teacher for putting what was then called a mash note in the locker of one of the boys in school. The teacher was a man. He was found not guilty, the note wasn't written by him and one of the boys friends admitted that the boy wrote the note and did what he did because he was failing the class.
That doesn't sound too different from today.
Okay, standard question to all baby boomers.
JFK assassination.
Do you think Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone or was there was a vast conspiracy?
I don't think it was a vast conspiracy, but there is something that I've always wondered. Why did Jack Ruby assassinate him?
I spent one whole day sick and watching The History Channel. They had a series of shows on about the possibility of a conspiracy.
All my questions were answered except for that one.
I don't think we'll ever know the truth behind this in our lifetime.
On to happier topics.
We share a love of music. Do you play any musical instruments?
If not, what would you like to be able to play?
No, but I would like to have learned to play the flute or piano.
Do you sing in the shower?
Yes, and I can't carry a tune in a basket.
Sick cow comes to mind here.
Oh Sherry, it can't be that bad. Can it?
(Laughing) Oh, Fuzzy, you have no idea how badly I sing.
I can, however, do a very good Loretta Lynn rendition on the duet she did with Ernest Tubbs. The song is called "Has Anybody Here Seen Sweet Thing ?"
It's the only song I sound halfway decent while singing.
Alright, if you could see one band from any era, alive or dead, who would it be?
And you can't answer The Doors. I'm not going to make it that easy !
