So now whenever I hear that song, which is rarely played on the radio these days, I remember the season I caused the
Pistons to win the championship.
(And no, it had nothing to do with that down-to-the-crunch last second long shot by Vinnie Johnson.)

Have you ever heard a song out of the blue that just stopped you in your tracks…
Took you back to another place…
Evoking strong memories…
Of who you were with… What you were doing… Where you were…?
You can almost taste, smell, and touch the place and the emotion of that time.
Maybe it was a happy or celebratory memory.Maybe it was bitter or sad…
But oh, that song!

Powerful Song Memories - by Lucy
Deacon Blues
Annie didn't particularly like the song but I fondly remember dancing to it numerous times with her.
That shape is my shade There where I used to stand...
We would sit out on her back porch devouring the sun that crept through the thick trees in her back yard. And ultimately I would ask her to put on Steely Dan.
At ramblers Wild gamblers That's all in the past
She would always complain and hate to put on just one song from a CD but she always gave in and ultimately I would win...
It seems like only yesterday I gazed through the glass
The song would start and sooner or later Annie would go for a beer and I would intersect in the living room and make her dance with me...just like I would make her frolic with me in the waves down the shore each summer.
Sharing the things we know and love With those of my kind Libations Sensations That stagger the mind
Annie couldn't dance yet she had rhythm....we would catch each others eyes and giggle...to our own song...like no one was watching...
So useless to ask me why Throw a kiss and say goodbye
I miss her for so many reasons...but every time I hear this song...I laugh and then I cry.
Throw a kiss and say goodbye I'll make it this time This is the day Of the expanding man That shape is my shade There where I used to stand It seems like only yesterday I gazed through the glass
At ramblers Wild gamblers That's all in the past You call me a fool You say its a crazy scheme This ones for real I already bought the dream So useless to ask me why Throw a kiss and say goodbye I'll make it this time I'm ready to cross that fine line I'll learn to work the saxophone I'll play just what I feel Drink scotch whiskey all night long And die behind the wheel They got a name for the winners in the world I want a name when I lose They call Alabama the Crimson Tide Call me deacon blues My back to the wall A victim of laughing chance This is for me The essence of true romance Sharing the things we know and love With those of my kind Libations Sensations That stagger the mind I crawl like a viper Through these suburban streets Make love to these women Languid and bittersweet I'll rise when the sun goes down Cover every game in town A world of my own I'll make it my home sweet home This is the night Of the expanding the man I take one last drag As I approach the stand I cried when I wrote this song Sue me if I play too long This brother is free I'll be what I want to be ~ Lucy
Lucy I love when you talk about your friend Annie...even though I know it is sad for you and you miss her so much, there is such a tenderness about it when you remember the times you had with her. There is nothing like a true friend. I know you will see her one day again. Hold her in your heart until then. I love you Lucy-- PolarB ;)

I love your photo of Annie...2 wild Irish girls...dancing and singing to Steely Dan...powerful song memories...powerful memories to tuck into your heart and live your life with....seems to me that maybe this is the best chapter yet in your story of Annie...
Six thank you so much for this series...it has constantly amazed me....
This one made me cry ... I miss the girls that have died ... You miss your Annie too. Some days ... I wish it was me that had left ... So they could have stayed. Do you think God would have accepted that trade?

That is the wonderful thing about a song - it is so often associated with a precious memory.
And Six ...
This one made me cry ...
I miss the girls that have died ...
You miss your Annie too.
Some days ... I wish it was me that had left ...
So they could have stayed.
Do you think God would have accepted that trade?
I love you guys
but
I sure hate GOOD-BYES ...
