RITA of Mama Never Told Me

I decided to interview someone who I really love and think is so funny and humorous. She brings that sharp wit to almost every single one of her posts and she is a gifted artistic woman with a big ole hear t! Who is this person you ask ??
Well… it's none other than Ms Rita B of Momma Never Told Me!
We decided to meet in Rita's home state of North Carolina which also happens to be one of my favorite places in the world to be !
I didn't hesitate for one moment to hop in my car and drive on down there where the gorgeous scenic Blue Ridge Mountains are every photographer's dream. It is home to the Biltmore Estates, Grandfather Mountain and the creatively artistic town of Asheville !

I'll have to stop by there on my way back....but right now there was more important things to do and I didn’t want to be late.
We decided to meet for the interview in one of the local parks.
I quickly found it by the directions Rita gave me, parked my car and got out to have a look around. Ah smell that wonderful fresh mountain air ! I spotted the gazebo we were to meet at and what do you know, a pretty little stream was flowing right close to where I was standing so I took a closer look... I discovered it was the
BLOG-STREAM where the waters flow smoothly !
I was so mesmerized by all the bloggers passing by and waving to me that when Rita snuck up behind me, I nearly peed my fur !

Hi there, Polar Bear!
How about a big bear hug for me?

Oh Rita dear, you startled me ! I thought one of them mountain bears was sneaking up on me….You gotta watch them sneaky fellers…
Of course you can have a big ole bear hug!
((Hugging her and squeezing tight))
Oh crap ! I don’t want to get white fur all over you Rita…
you know how I shed sometimes...
She dismisses the thought and we take a seat in the gazebo
facing the stream.
Rita is just as sweet as she can be and I am looking forward
to interviewing her.

This lovely gazebo overlooking the Blogstream is a great
place to meet.
What a brisk day and I see the bloggers are running upstream !
Honey-child, we should have brought our fishing gear !
Look --- there goes a frisky one.....

Yeah… I see that and he looks familiar too…
but I can’t place his name….oh never mind them…
We are here for you Rita to find out more about you, so let’s get down to business and I’ll start off with the first question !

Okay, PB --- but first,
how about a mug of hot toddy to keep the chill away?

I notice Rita has brought a big thermos with her and she’s poured us two steaming hot mugs of something that smells wonderful.
As she hands one to me I take a sip and it warms my insides.
She smiles and says she is ready for me to fire that first question. Okay here we go!
What brought you to Blogstream?

My youngest daughter didn't want me to compete with her on MySpace, so she set me up in the Stream.

What do you get out of it?

Words mostly, Polar Bear.
I love reading and writing.
But more importantly, I've made many cyber-friends
while enjoying rewarding adventures of the mind.

You have been here in the Stream for a while.
What has changed the most that you notice since you
began blogging?

Oh, yeah, since November '05 !
Back then I got fewer comments than now.
Like any community, people come and go --- that always bothers me when they disappear --- I suspect Blogstream assassins.
However, fresh blood does bring some new and interesting
blogs to enjoy.

You have a knack for creating amazing artwork yourself and probably most people don't know that you have a Fine Arts degree and that you paint beautiful paintings...
do you have a particular artist that you love?

Yes, she's popular too --- I like Georgia O'Keefe's artwork.
In the beginning she was considered controversial because her flowers looked like more than just flowers.
I enjoy artists who break the rules and surprise us !
I'm pleased you like my artwork, Polar Bear.
Recently, I started painting again for an exhibit I'll have
in September.

That is just awesome !
I really love your paintings and maybe you can post a sampling of them on your site for us to see.
I would love to go to one of your art exhibits Rita !

As soon as I create one that I think is worthy of
The Streamers' varied tastes !

Okay… What's the funniest thing a blogger ever said to you ?
Or when's the last time a blogger's story made you laugh?

Back when I was begging my husband for a Roomba,
Captain Morgan invented a BaZoomBa for me ---
we went back and forth about that new invention !
Funny, though, but it never came in the mail like he promised !!!

LOL ! Well, he has been out to sea for a while….
We will have to get on his case about that !

There have been so many humorous posts,
but Topaz's "A Good Laugh is Great Medicine" is where I go for laughs on a daily basis !

While we are on the subject of humor....
I really love your sense of humor Rita,
partly because it is very similar to my own...kind of wacky...
but what truly makes you belly laugh out loud ?

Usually, it's because I've had a slip of the tongue !
Always in a crowd, and at the worse possible time !!!
That leads to some "tears streaming, rolling in the aisles,
and then running to the bathroom" moments in my life.
Unfortunately, I also like the "pie in the face" kind of humor, but only if it's totally unexpected !
I like surprises in my humor too.

When's the last time a blogger's story made you cry
(in a good way)?

That's a tough one to answer because when I cry it's usually not because I'm happy.
However, Lucy's Blogstream videos have brought some
happy tears to my eyes !

Yep I agree, our Lucy is quite talented with the videos !
What is your favorite food Rita?

Crumbs from our toaster oven --- I'm not much of a cook !

LOL !!!
Well I’m not sure about your cooking but this
Hot Toddy is perfectly delicious !
Can I have a bit more?
Rita grabs the thermos and fills our mugs again and
speaking of toast…
I am feeling rather toasty inside already as I gulp another drink
of the warm liquid.
Do you have an all time favorite movie?

Since I can never remember back very far,
it's usually the last one I saw.
In this case it's "Children of Men" which I found to be
quite stunning!
I never let the critics keep me away from a movie if I want to see.

What movie has made you totally crack up and want to
roll on the floor laughing?

When "There's Something About Mary" first came out,
I embarrassed myself from laughing so loudly at the movies !

Oh, well, at least it was at the right times.
I think..........

What is something that you would absolutely love to try
that is a bit daring ?

No spelunking for this chickie, but I'm up for parasailing
if onlookers can stand the over-head screaming !

Oh so you’re a screamer too huh ? LOL !
I rode a children’s rollercoaster once and screamed my lungs off and when the ride ended the little kid in front of me
turned around and said-
“Give it a break lady !”
It was hilarious but I was terrified !

Yeah, some of those park rides do that to me !!!
Tee hee.

Well, while we are on the subject of screaming….
What was your favorite concert ever?
