YES, that's right .....It's Whispered Promises !!!

WBSS is pleased to have such a fantastic blogger visiting us and answering all the question our callers and I can dream up.    

Oooohhhh, the phones are ringing like crazy here at WBSS.....      let's take our first question.

How did you find out about the BlogStream?

 

Well you see, Anne Tyler Inspired me with these words,

"While armchair travelers dream of going places, traveling armchairs dream of staying put."

So I interpreted that and looked for a good blog site.

Wow, that's a deep answer. 

   After you came to the BlogStream, who was the first person to contact you ?

Hockey Mom, then Coloconnect, but POH caught onto one of my comments to Whit and private messaged me.

She said, "Oh you live near Rochester, NY? !  We have to talk."

After I asked her if she owned any axes or chainsaws, I did decide to meet her.

Both our hubby’s are similar in nature and in employment.

POH and I get in quite a few laughs.

It’s a good relationship and she has a great big heart, a common thing found on the blog.

HA --- we're glad you were wrong about her being a mass murderer. 

 What's the funniest thing a blogger ever said to you in a comment ?

 There have been quite a few funny comments.  Some people I love to play with because the humor is just too much fun to leave sitting.

The comment that caught me totally off guard was not made by one of my normal humor players. 

I am not even sure if he even meant to be funny, but Whit commented to me on a blog post I named Oh That Drive of All Drives.

"WP: When I saw the title of your post, I thought you were going to be writing about the sex drive, that "drive of all drives". 

I laughed because he didn’t comment about the content of the blog at all, but seemed disappointed that I didn’t write about sex.

That's probably true.  I'm sure Whit would have liked that.

Boy, did that make the telephones light up here in the studio !  We better screen the calls after that response. 

Another caller asks....

Has a blogger's story ever made you cry?

Many have, some were posts about their struggles, or their loss of one they loved, or even frustration at a situation.  I know and have experienced far more than I have ever imagined I would, and it has not emptied me in emotion, but instead allows me to feel with you.  

I am in touch with my feelings, I like it that way, it is a vulnerable way to be sometimes but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

And when I tell you that I will pray for you, I do just that, my words are real.

I have to ask what's your favorite food to cook ?

 

 I am a home town girl when it comes to cooking.

I cook very well, but my husband is the ultimate cook in our family.

As a compliment, I got him a Chef Hat.

There is no greater compliment in the food world than receiving a Chef Hat, is there?

How would I know?  I'm only good with liquids. 

I make a mean hot water soup!

Speaking of costumes, another caller wants to know what movie made a lasting impression on you?

Schindler’s List – I believe every person should view this once.  It brings the unthinkable a reality, and remind us that human suffering should not exist.

 

Good Will Hunting - The language is rougher than I prefer, but the story line explained how when we are given a gift, we cannot fear it but need to use it.  He knew his ‘gift of being a genius’ would take him from everything he knew, and it scared him.

 

The Princess Bride - Nothing taught me that humor can and must have a good story line.  It is also where I acquired my farewell line when someone is leaving; "Have fun storming the castle!"

Princess Bride is one of my favorites too ! 

  Just watching that poor guy try to come back to life after being dead.......it was wicked funny.

What is something that you would absolutely love to try that is a bit daring?

 This is not my specialty.

My life was with brothers and cousins that were boys, I lived a dare.

*thinks a moment*    I know !    *acts excited*

I could try a Houdini trick and lock myself in the bathroom, when my hero comes to rescue me I could shut the door and lock him inside too.

*looks to Rita with a shicky grin*

Oh never mind it’s been done.

Oh, I see you've been doing some research on your interviewer --- but enough about me. 

The Streamers want to know what makes you tick, so to speak.

What kind of music do you enjoy the most?

I love a wide variety of genres.

Country, jazz, celtic, rock, classical etc.

I will tell you what I don’t like, I hate music that degrades and degenerates women, no matter how catchy a tune.

 I don’t see the need to use language so crusted that it is the majority of the music and you won’t get me to polka because I was raised a clogger.

True.

I never thought of clogging as a stepping stone to fame.

Who are the five people living or deceased, you would like to spend the day with and why ?

Bill Watterson – creator of Calvin and Hobbes- His mind has got to be incredible.  He personally refuses to be bought and sold.  What I have been able to read about him, he is down to earth and elusive. He refuses to franchise Calvin or Hobbes, and he stopped doing Sunday papers when they wanted to scale the comics down which left the reader with puns and kicks instead of a comic, I respect that in a person.

 

Jane Austin – Her books are some of my favorites, and she created strong women and pushed for women to believe in the heroine and expands their horizon beyond the expected.

Terry Goodkind- An American fantasy writer. Goodkind suffers from dyslexia, which in high school brought him "constant ridicule and humiliation from his teachers",  he has worked as a carpenter, a violin maker, a marine and wildlife artist, and a restorer of rare and exotic artifacts and antiques, before turning his thoughts to writing while constructing his home on the forested Mount Desert Island off the coast of Maine with his wife, Jeri.  I admire him because I have a highly creative child that suffers from dyslexia, and I would love to have any encouraging advice he has for her, he has excelled far beyond expectation, and I love his books.

 

Oprah and Gayle - I want to bring my girlfriend Gael with me, we feel we could have some cold sweet tea and talk on the front porch for hours.

What would be your dream retirement?

 

 Let’s see, having enough money to do a few trips a year, to dote on my kids and grandchildren, and to hire a maid !

You sure know what's important, Whisper. 

Now tell me, do you believe in Heaven?

 I certainly do and I have some wonderful people waiting for me to join them, but I am not in a big hurry.

Good plan.  No early retirement here either.

But if you could go on a great exciting adventure, where would you go and what would you do?

 I would join the Star Ship Enterprise under the direction of Jean Luc Piccard.

*rises from her chair looking skyward starts quoting the theme with enthusiasm*

"Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before!"

*sits back down brushes off her skirt*

"Make it so."  I loved it when Jean Luc said that from the Captain's chair on the bridge !  I'm a Trekkie Geek too.

That was a great show, but what was your first favorite TV show?

 Captain Kangaroo !

What other show stocked ping pong balls to drop on each other ?

So that's where your wacky sense of humor was formed !  A cross between Captain Kangaroo and Happy Clogging ?  With anyone else that mixture would have been lethal.

Have you ever received a nasty, distasteful, or weird comment --- private or public --- from a Streamer?

 Not that I am aware of, should I be disappointed?

Not really, but some of those can be pretty funny if you don't take them too seriously !

Speaking of seriously --- this next caller has a difficult question to ask you --- If you could change anything about your life, what would it be?

 *gets serious for a moment*

I would love to have my kids full time and hubby the same.

I have a great family but never all at once and it is a painful way      to live.

That's an amazing answer since most people only want to be rich !

Do you have any unusual skills or talents ?

 Sure.

*looks surprised*

You want to know what they are.  Well I have some that I will share.

*leans over and whispers in Rita’s ear who shakes her head*

It’s not illegal ? Okay, well then, I paint and draw very well.  I got hired to do murals and scenery for plays.  I also paint certain in a whimsical way and have sold many items in stores and flea markets.

I also write quite a bit, I have done articles and church plays, I would like to get published.

Surprisingly, we all suspected you had a non-legal creative streak, Whisper! 

You sure have lots of interests, but the Streamers probably enjoy your humorous writing in those "hit & run" comments you're so famous for.

 

Our final caller wants to know if there is anyone in you life who you have lost, but would like to find again?

Okay, it’s Mae, it’s been a 6 generation first born girl middle name on my mom’s side of the family.

That is amazing because my grandmother's nickname was Mae --- on my mother's side, not the Brown side of the family.

 Love

 What is your favorite curse word?

 I don’t have a favorite. I treat them all respectfully.

What sound or noise do you love?

 The Ocean and children’s laughter

I also find the power of the ocean an awesome sound !

What sound or noise do you hate?

 Berating and Bullying

What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?

 My faith, the beauty found in the world, the innocence of children, walks on the beach at night hand in hand with my beloved, warm summer eve walks or in a summer rain.

What turns you off?

 Degradation, bullies, selfishness and people displaying disregard for those around them.

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?

 Author and Illustrator
