Last night my mother took me out for my birthday.
We went into New York and had dinner at "Becco's Restaurant" on restaurant row, as it is called in the theatre district. This restaurant is owned by Lidia of Lidia's Italian Table of TV fame. The food and wine was delicious !
And...as an added treat, who was starring in it you ask ?

I am a huge Chaka Khan fan and she did not disappoint. (I was THIS clost to her !) Neither did any other cast member. They were all amazingly talented. There were some children in the play who I couldn't keep my eyes off of...they were just too adorable for words.
Today I made a point to stop over my sister's house. I walked up to her and gave her a kiss and a hug & said "I saw The Color Purple last night with Mommy and I just had to tell you I love you."
She looked at me CRAZY...she had no idea what I was talking about because she never saw the movie. I just assumed EVERYONE had seen the movie !
If you haven't, rent it this weekend. It is a beautiful movie. My daughters were brought up on it..I am going to buy them just two tickets to go see the play..just two sisters..laughing, crying, dancing, clapping and singing.
Appreciating each other...
There are two scenes where I always cry and last night was no exception..I mean I did the UGLY cry ! When Celie and Nettie are separated and then when they are reunited.
We all take people, things and nature for granted...and we all take our families for granted..this movie is a gentle reminder to tell the ones we love just how important they are to us and always treasured.
At the end of the play everyone gives a standing ovation and the cast comes out and we all danced and sang and I was still crying..
I keep getting this email from family and friends and it really pisses me off...
