MEET ME UNDER THE COVERS

Our latest book club selection is from our very own Grandma Baba from:

http://grandmababasays.blogstream.com/

When Grandma was kind enough to send me her book, I was looking forward to it because I just simply love Grandma Baba.

Honestly, I didn't know what to expect from a book about three open heart surgeries.  However, I was pleasantly surprised !

Grandma Baba's funny sense of humor and vivid details as well as her imagination came shining through and made this a wonderful read.

Not only does Grandma Baba kick butt in poker on Friday nights with us bloggers, but she is an accomplished author as well !

I Am Afraid is an account of the hurdles overcome by the author during her three open heart surgeries occuring within a four year span.

Book Description

I Am Afraid. Sounds like a weird title for a novel, doesn’t it? Who knows, maybe after reading everything you might think the title should be I Am Still Afraid. I will let all of you be the judge of this after you have finished it.

Prepare yourself to take a four-year journey as seen and felt through the author’s eyes, mind and body. The tale will amaze and probably emit many emotions. Follow the affairs of her heart until they reach their final destination.
Enjoy.

Extra, Extra...

It's The Sunday Blogstream Enquirer !!

Our ace reporter for this Sunday's edition of The Blogstream Enquirer is our favorite southern gal ..... Belle!

^Belle^:

We are here in the hollow (holler) with Randy from the blog, "Thoughts From The Hollow"  http://hollowblog.blogstream.com/.
In the short time that he has been here on the stream Randy has endeared himself to many with not only his humor but his heart. Many times I have been moved to tears as I read his words.
So let's get down to business.

^Belle^:
How did you find Blogstream and what makes it so unique?

Randy:
I found Blogstream after deciding that I needed a place to be able to stretch my writing ideas out a bit further than the discussion board that I have been a member of for the last 4 years.

My friends there saw me grow from a man that really couldn't write very well at all, and was basically a puchline kind of poster, grow into a writer who has a unique perspective on how to write about daily life and who grew into a writer than other readers seemed to enjoy and be able to connect with. It wasn't really my idea to start a blog. People I knew were pushing me to find a place where I could write more extensively because they thought I had a special talent for making people laugh and yet I am a writer who seems to have a keen awareness of what's in my heart and how to make those feelings known in a candid and very powerful way.

I'm not just a village idiot all the time. My emotions rule my world and readers seem to like that, whether it's something sublime and beautiful or something resembling the Titanic plummeting to the bottom of the icy Atlantic.

I'm equally comfortable writing about the agony or ecstasies of like.
Oh, and I suppose I'll add that Blogstream has been therapeutic for me in my on going  war with those persnickety tree vermin, known as the SQUIRREL------- AAAARRRRRRGGGGGG!!!!

I love blogstream because the people here are friendly, open minded, funny and have given me sense of belonging to a very diverse and loving community of special souls, who just happen to be great writers too!

^Belle^:
Who left the first comment on your blog?

Randy:

Ah, the first Streamer to ever leave me a comment was Ashley from "Life changes but im always Ashley" http://alwaysashley.blogstream.com/ . Our beloved Belle was my first regular commenter and it wasn't until she came around that I began to feel like a part of the community here so, she'll always have a special place in my Streamer heart!

Now, I have a few regulars who stop be to read everyday and that has been nice. I have really been enjoying getting to know many of the others here too.

^Belle^:
If someone were to write Blogstream The Musical....who would play you?

Randy:

Wow. This is a toughie! I suppose George Carlin possessed by Esther Rolle would do a pretty good job portraying me!!

^Belle^:
You have written so many wonderful and insightful posts...do you have a favorite....one that is really close to your heart?

Randy:

Hmmmmm...... This is a tough one.

I will take this opportunity to say that if you see something on my blog that is just very random and goofy and has NO basis in reality but maaaaay seem kind of funny (or not, for that matter), then that means I have nothing for that day.

I just love playing with words and combinations of words that might confuse and dismay the poor reader who might stumble across my blog for the first time.

That being said, my two favorite and dearest blogs to me are two of my most personal. Those would be the one I wrote to Secret about my passion and love for her, and the other is the one I wrote about my late father on father's day. There's a lot on there I am proud of but those two stand out as extra special to me.

^Belle^:
Inspiration to write strikes at some of the strangest places and times. So this is my next question:

Strangest place or time you have been suddenly inspired to write?

Randy:

I will often write in the middle of the night because that's when things settle down enough around the house to actually let me get head to work. But, basically I am ALWAYS writing.... wherever I go during the day. I am writing in my head, or seeing photographs I want to take, or music that I am writing in my head. I guess I will be a successful writer when I can hang on to those ideas long enough to get home and put them down to share.

^Belle^:
If you could go back in time and live for 1 year in any time period or era what would it be?

Randy:

Oh, that's easy. I would want to live for a year in the 17th century but be able to bring cool things like my stereo, my slinky, and my car so I could scare the beejeebies out of everyone with my nifty doo-dads! It would be fun to watch the confusion and panic!

^Belle^:
Any tips or suggestions for new bloggers here on the stream?

Randy:

Well, first of all, don't worry about everything you write making full sense to everyone as long as it means something to you.

And also, to make sure to take the time to read the blogs of other streamers. You shouldn't just write in a vacuum. Becoming part of the community here has enriched my writing and given me great inspiration at times.

Most of all, be yourself!  Blogging is a very neat forum where you can truly express yourself as who you are; the good, the bad, and the ugly!

Last piece of advice is to have fun with it. Don't worry about being judged by others. Your opinions are your opinions and this the perfect place to put them out for the world to see. New world outlooks and the very personal and specific creativities that you might want to come out of your head will be able to be read by others here.

^Belle^:
Last book you read?

Randy:

Well, the last nonfiction book I read was "Undaunted Courage" by Stephen E. Ambrose. It's a book about Lewis and Clark and their journey to the Pacific Ocean from The Mississippi river across the unexplored wilds of the American West.

The last fiction I read was "The Winter Of Our Discontent" by John Steinbeck.

I also read scripture from the Bible everyday without fail. It keeps me spiritually fit.

^Belle^:
I am going to put you on the spot now with this question
(Lucy made me)

Name 5 bloggers you would like to meet and why?

Randy:

Wow, I'm kind of new to Blogstream society so I will do my best here based upon my lack of knowledge of the others on here. I do have some writers in mind though.

1. Whit - http://bushsyndrome.blogstream.com/
Just to see what on earth has been whittling this whole time!  I suspect he has whittled all the major battles of the American Civil War from a Sequoia tree!  I'm just saying!!

2. Belle -  http://redhot21.blogstream.com/
Because I admire her big loving heart and I believe she would feed me quite well, being a good southern Belle!!

3. Kristin - http://strangephraseindeed.blogstream.com/
Because I think she is a bit CRAZY like me!  She seems like a lot of fun!

4. Biggie T - http://doghouse.blogstream.com/
Because he is a southerner like myself and I love his emotion.  He's real and he writes well. I don't think he and I would ever run out of things to talk about!

5. PolarB - http://innersanctum.blogstream.com/
She just seems like such a very deep and loving personality and I like the fact that she doesn't put on airs about being anything but HERSELF!  That's refreshing in the cyber world where some people can spend so much time and energy trying to please everyone and will wear different masks to bring a wider range of personalities into the fold. That's something I respect dearly about her.

^Belle^:
And now for the final question.....drum roll please.......

What CD/s are in your player right now?

Randy:

Beatle's - "White Album"
Alison Krause - "Forget About It"
Dixie Chicks - "Home"
Neil Young - "Harvest" and "Harvest Moon"
Nirvana - "Unplugged In New York"
Radiohead - "Hail To The Thief"

^Belle^:

As a bonus, Randy and his wife Secret, granted permission to include this wonderful piece he wrote recently.
(Some of you will need to grab some tissues)

Randy:

I Love This Woman  !!!

Ok. It's mushy time. I have to make this public declaration.

I absolutely love the woman that is known as "Secret" on this site. Mere mortal language cannot truly give a translation of the private Psalms of happiness and gratitude that I have for her. She is all I could have ever wanted in a woman. She is beautiful and graceful. She makes me laugh and also makes me think. She's my best friend, my lover, my confidant, my everything.

I have built my life so completely around this incredible woman and I have to be the luckiest man on Earth to be so honored as to have her love. What a magnificent blessing she is to me and to everyone who knows her.

She is wise. She is brilliantly clever. She is kind to all. She's a terrific mother to her children. She is courageous. She is strong. She is loving and affectionate. She is the light at the end of the tunnel. She is spiritual. She is deep. She is far greater than my expectations of the woman that God would put with me to be my soulmate.

She is my heroine.
I've never known a braver soul than her.

Just to lay in bed with her and hold her is a brush with the divine nature of love in it's true essence.

To listen to her heart beat is more lovely than the most beautiful music I have ever heard. She is my symphony; such beauty could only be composed by God Himself..

Thank you God for bringing her into my life and for allowing me to be a part of her journey.

I love you "Secret". Each day, I will always love you more than the day before, and the week before, and the month before, and the year before and into eternity......

 Sunday Foot Fetish

Sunday Foot Fetish

(not really, don't be scared my friend)

Sorry we do not have an interview today for the Blogger Enquirer, we had some technical difficulties but the presses will be up and running by next Sunday, I promise.

Okay, the foot movie.....

Some of you are getting into the spirit and actually asking questions and some brave souls have actually submitted pix.....oh yeah!!

I think I have about 7 submissions thus far....7 set of feet or 14 actual feet.  I think that is about 140 toes !!  My goal is to have 50 submissions.

This was one of my ideas for myself to do as an example:

I was going to set up a Grateful Dead album as background and put daisies in between each toe (like a flower child) and a fake joint burning in between one of my toes with smoke rising.  Maybe add a little incense too.

(no I do not smoke pot...can you imagine if I did - oh my...yikes !!??)

This is the kind of creativity I am looking for though.

You do not have to show your feet if you are shy...slap on a pair of clown shoes if you want to!  Dig them in the mud with worms crawling all over them.....I don't care!

Today I saw a rainbow and took a photograph.  I just wish I thought of lying on the ground and threw my feet into the air; placing one foot on one end of the rainbow and the other foot at the other end.

Once when my CH husband was sound asleep on the couch I polished his toes bright red & took a picture....this photo may end up in the movie..shhhh.

BE WEIRD !

BE CRAZY !

BE ARTISTIC !

BE CREATIVE !

USE YOUR BLOG NAME AS A SPRING BOARD TO CREATE!

( Ice, Moma, Polar Bear, Puppy, Daisy, Venus, Tombs, Flames, Moons, Dog Houses, Prank, Texas, Mom, Mum, River & Rat, Peaches, Cowbells, Yankees, Nuts, Queens, Rollercoasters, Republicans, Creeks, Cats, Bookworms, Raindrops, Hearts, Stars, Candles, Scotland, Magicians & Fairies....)

Come on guys....be silly and submit to BLOGGERLUCY@AOL.COM

Let's have some fun...I have some music picked out but if you have an idea, send it to me and you will get credit for your idea.

Also, name your picture!  Give it a title....

For instance with my silly idea, instead of Dead Heads, it can be Dead Toes, Dead Feet.....etc.

You can do it, don't be shy...tap into that creative side of yours !!

Do them in black and white or color.  If you want them in black and white I can change it on my end.

Dress your feet up as a famous celebrity !

Write a political or religious message on the soles of your feet !

Incorporate your children & pets feet into the photo !

Throw a wig on your foot and draw a face on them with lipstick !

Put on your prom shoes or wedding shoes !

Henna your feet !

Take a picture of your feet with a cool background such as a mountain, flowers, a body of water, clouds in the sky, a sunset, the moon, a blazing fire....etc.

"You don't know me until you have walked a mile in my shoes"

Where have your feet been?

Where do you want them to go?

Here are examples I have found on the internet:

ODE TO FEET !

DO IT FOR ART !

DO IT FOR LUCY !

You know I am gonna bug you relentlessly until you give it up, just like the Blogstream Yearbook !

DO IT !
