The "Sunday Blogstream Enquirer" welcomes Mr. Squash For Brains to the staff.....he is responsible for adding captions to graphics (The New Residencia Airlines)....thank you Squash !
"A place for women to share and men to try and figure us out."
Got that right, and I appreciate it. Ice probably won’t notice. So, tell me, when did you first start breeding Schnauzers, and what made you decide to do that?
Long story, but I'll try to condense it.... We were looking for an adult dog since we didn't have any house pets. Ice's son likes to have a dog in the house when he comes to visit so he feel safer. So I kept checking the paper for an adult dog given away that was already housebroken.
And one thing led to another?
Finally found one that was advertised as a poodle, so I went to check it out. He had been abandoned or lost and the folks that found him couldn't find an owner. So he was very sweet, but really dirty, matted and couldn't see his eyes. Just a mess. Anyway.....I took him to the vet and groomer and he turned out to be a full blood Schnauzer, which is Buster. Then we decided he needed a playmate, so we got two females to "play" with....
Oohhhh…
And like you said, one thing led to another. But we went into the business to help get us toward retirement. And to supplement the retirement when the time comes. I enjoy it very much and love all the dogs and puppies
I know you do, it shows in the pictures you put on your blog. They're adorable!
Thank you
. I remember when your blog name was "Schnauzer Lover" and Ice and the other guys on the Stream gave you a hard time about it because they couldn't spell "Schnauzer." They called you "Snoozer Lover," among other things.
Yeah, Ice still can't spell Schnauzer and it is a hard word to remember and write, so after several requests from the rest of the blog, I changed it to Puppy.
Good choice. I wasn't in on the "Great Pork Chop Bust" where it was discovered you and Ice were a couple, both eating grilled pork chops at the same time. And then you posted the whole picture of you and Ice in "Wild West" style, which Ice had previously posted showing only him with a mysterious female arm around his shoulder he said belonged to Miss Kitty. Can you tell us the reasons for not revealing yourselves right away?
Sure. Ice was the first one to get on the blog because he loves to write and wanted an outlet for that purpose. Then he found it to be such a great place and probably didn't want me to feel left out, that he started mentioning it to me for something to do. I wasn't too keen on the idea because I never considered myself a writer and lacked the imagination for it. Anyway, he finally talked me into trying it and I did, but didn't think it would be something I would stick with. But I also found it to be a wonderful place and by that time, I didn't want to draw undue attention because I was Ice's wife or take away from his because he was Puppy's husband. I really wanted him to enjoy the blog as an individual and the same for me.
That makes a lot of sense.
By the time we discovered we would both probably hang around, we didn't want at that point for anyone to be offended because we had "deceived" them. It wasn’t our intention.
I never felt at all deceived and was delighted to find out you were married to each other.
It was a relief to finally be "busted". I'm glad everybody took it so well and we had a great time with it.
We understood your reasons perfectly, and loved seeing the pictures of you two together!
Thank you. I was tickled to finally be able to reveal the one that I had been bragging about for so long. And he had been there all along.
You say you "lacked the imagination” for writing, but I can see in your blog that you’ve developed into a very good writer. Do you see that in yourself?
I guess I see it in the fact that I enjoy it so much and seem to be able to convey my feeling for the subject of the particular post. The difference in my style and Ice's is that he has a very vast and vivid imagination, whereas I can only write about things I have experienced, know about, or care about. But my own style has suited me very well and has proved to be a creative outlet for me as well. There is always something new to do or express, so I’m most definitely hooked in a good way.
You definitely are creative with it! Many people on the Stream talk about their "connections" to other bloggers. Do you feel that too?
Yes, I definitely do feel connections with other bloggers, some more than others. But I really think that we all have unique connections to our own set of bloggers that we identify with for one reason or another. It's an awesome experience.
Yes, it is awesome! I know you passed up an opportunity to have "15 minutes of fame"... or would it be shame... from a tv producer who wanted you to re-enact your "most embarrassing moment” for television. It cracked everyone up to imagine you trying to stop that water, and how you described finally doing it! What were your reasons for turning it down?
Number one reason was that there was simply no way on earth that anyone would ever talk me into demonstrating such an embarrassing maneuver for millions of people to see. Just the few that witnessed it was enough for me. Second, it was very flattering, but to tell you the truth, the "15 minutes of fame" just didn't mean that much to me. I valued the written quality of it more than what a producer could do with it on a T.V. show.
Good answer, it says a lot about the kind of person you are, Puppy. You're what we call "Good People." You work very hard, and long hours, doing a job that benefits victims of abuse. Have I told you how much I admire you for that?
Aw geeeeez, you're gonna make my head swell now. Seriously, sometimes I do complain a lot because I have a very stressful job. I don't feel like I'm doing anything that noteworthy because I don't work directly with the victims of abuse. I was hired for my business savvy mostly and the fact that I can keep a nonprofit financially afloat. The real heroes are the counselors and advocates we have that are in the trenches and work directly with the victims. I have a very strong conviction to be on the "helping" end because of my own personal experiences, but I can't take credit for most of the help these women get, other than providing the means, the paycheck for the ones that do. Thank you, Daisy for the compliment but I admire you more for being a strong survivor of domestic abuse. You are the true inspiration.
Thank you, Pup. But your job makes the organization work, without that there wouldn't be any counselors "down in the trenches." If you could retire to anywhere in the world, and do anything you wanted to do, where would you go, and what would you do?
Oh dear....let me think.
Take all the time you need. I'll just play with these dogs.
Wow, this is a hard one. I think as long as Ice were with me, we could go anywhere and enjoy any setting. We both would love to spend time on a tropical beach somewhere in the Caribbean. I think a nice private beach in Jamaica would be nice. Then we would have to travel to his favorite place in Colorado and watch the snow fall from a nice cozy cabin and nice fire. Oh, and wine, of course. Gee, I could go on and on, but I think that's a good condensed version of what I would like to do. But as long as he was with me, right here at home would suffice.
That sounds like a wonderful retirement!
I hope Prissy hasn't licked all your make-up off. Just make her get down if she is getting too friendly.
She hasn't done anything Lulu wouldn't do. It's obvious you and Ice love and enjoy each other, and your happiness overflows to others. That's wonderful! Now comes the question that gave me anxiety....
Anxiety? That's not a good sign…
Which five bloggers would you most like to meet?
Now this is the one that bothers me, because I'd like to meet so many!
I know, it bothered me too. I don't know if it's a "required" question for interviews, but everyone asks it.
And I'm going to cheat, cuz I just can't narrow it to five. How about seven?
Seven is okay too.
Donuts - Because I think she is a very unique woman that marches solely to her own tune. She seems to be totally comfortable with who she is, therefore she doesn’t share that much of who she really is in her blog, other than through her one-of-a-kind humor. So there remains a certain mystery about her. And I just like the heck out of her.
Polar Bear - Besides being one of the most loveable people I’ve ever had the pleasure to know, there is something about her pictures that have always struck me. She has an inner glow that radiates from her face that is very distinct and drew me to her even more. She is the epitome of inner warmth and strength.
Daisy - Because I have had the pleasure of getting to know you better through private communication and have found you to be a wonderful and valued friend. Your sense of humor and the raw truth you convey about yourself in your blog , and privately, are refreshing and welcome. Not to mention the inspiration you are to other women in crisis.
Colo - She has a depth of perception about life and the people in it that is rare and precious. She seems to have the ability to see into a different realm of life and reality that is both inspirational and awe-inspiring. I’ve also had the pleasure of getting to know her better through private communication, so I know a little more about her.
Belle - Because she and I have very similar sentiments about our families, our lives, our pasts and of course, our dogs, lol. She possessed a unique mixture of down home southern lady and sophisticated thinker. She has a very warm and inviting writing style that is irresistible.
Scratch - Because Scratch is Scratch! He is true to who he is and I sense that he is very comfortable with his life. He is constant and true to the Stream and the people he cares about online or off. He has a matter of fact sense of humor and just the right timing to make me chuckle every time I read one of his comments. I consider him a caring friend and such a good sport, especially when he is dodging penny rolls.
Prank - Because, like Scratch, he is a constant friend to all and has endured some rough spots in the road since he joined the Stream. But he’s still here and still delighting us with his humor, poetry and caring concern.
Now, the Required Question: What cd's are in your player right now?
Oh brother. This is a hard one because we never listen to "cd's". Ice has some really great speakers wired to his computer, which has about 4,000 songs on it, and we listen to "playlists" that sometimes have a hundred songs on them. So I'll just have to say that we listen to MANY different styles and artists, from the 50's to current hits. We both share the fact that no matter who the artist is, what style of music, or what era......if we like the song, we just like it. So we have lots of music in many varieties. It would take me all day to list all that we enjoy. So can I leave it at that?
Fine with me. Do your likes ever clash, though? I mean, are there songs that one of you like and the other doesn't?
Sometimes. For instance, "Polk Salad Annie" is one of his favorites and it does nothing for me. "Play Me" by Neil Simon is one of my favorites and he doesn't particularly like it.
So you compromise, then? Or do you have to listen to "your" songs when he's not around?
We compromise and include songs that both of us like. I don't complain when he plays his favorites and vice versa. Since we both like almost all of them, there's not much room for complaint.
That's good. Keep everyone happy! Is there anything you would like to add to this interview?
No, I think you've covered a lot and I think it'll be a great interview. Already is.
I think so too! Well, Miss Puppy, thank you for taking the time to let me interview you. You've been a gracious host, in spite of the unruly puppies.
Well, thank you for asking me, Miss Daisy! Oh, and sorry about your sandals. I'll see if I can find where Sugar stashed them. She obviously likes you and wants you to stay a while. Next time, bring Lulu with you and we'll just have a Schnauzer Free For All.
No problem about the sandals, and I will for sure bring Lulu along next time. I'll come prepared, knowing things are gonna get rowdy!
Good thinking, my friend!
Relax and heal, and I'll talk to you later, darlin’.
Okie dokie. It's been a pleasure, my friend..
Thank you. The pleasure is all mine, and Lucy’s readers.
Thank you.
