 Thursday - This and That

Thursday, This & That

Hi y'all !

(that was for you Belle)

Just random stuff today....

 American Idol

....okay skip to # 2 if the show irritates you!

I'm not going to comment on who won or not...but I just loved the show last night. It was fast paced and full of surprises.

 (Prince? oh yeah!)

Of course being the blubbering idiot I cried the whole show.

You'll be surprised what was my favorite part of the show, it was Burt Bacharach.  I just love him.  I think he is a hot old man and there isn't a song that he has written that I don't love.  He was one of People's Most Beautiful or Sexiest one year and I was thrilled!

And then having Dion walk on stage and sing with him, it was just cake!  I think he is the most talented song writer ever.  You can just tell when a song is his, he has such a unique style....love him!

What was your favorite surprise?

 Lost

I love the show Lost and basically I am still well....lost after viewing the finale last night.

Yet I will go back for more torture next season.

Can anyone explain to me what the hell is going on with that show?

 Cuban Husband

My CH came back from a business trip last night from LA....and yes of course I missed him.

He wasn't even home 5 minutes and walla walla bing bang.......he barely noticed I cut my hair shoulder length from half way down my back.

And he didn't notice I replaced all the pub lights in the kitchen.  I have Christmas lights up all year intertwined with ivy......I call them pub lights and they make me happy....lol

So, what little thing makes you happy in your home?  I know all of you gardeners will say your gardens.  I haven't bought my flats yet.

 Memorial Day Weekend

You know how much I love the weekends, I look forward to calling into Shree's show or chatting in the Blogstream chat room with others under the influence of libations into the wee hours of the morning....right "T" ?  lol

This week is Fleet Week in NYC when ships come to port and you can go aboard them and take a look see.

We can see them from NJ and then take the ferry over the harbour each year.  It's always a beautiful day.  I think we are going in on Saturday.  I will take lots of pix!

It's also great for single gals because there are a bunch of sea men (remember Sex & The City; semen?) walking around in their pressed whites.  My gosh they are just boys.....breaks my heart.

No matter if you are for or against the war, I hope you are flying the American flag high this weekend with pride.

We have to support the boys over there and bring them home soon...safely.

Sunday I have a Wiccan wedding.....my cousin is getting married to a witch. Love her!  She is also a sex phone operator part time from home.  She is very interesting to say the least!

It's probably going to be similar to Moonsilver's wedding last weekend.  I can't wait to see what it will be like.....more pix for ya!

Has anyone heard from our little newlywed by the way?  Hey Moon get out of bed already !!!  What is she and Brian having a John and Yoko bed in ?

Hey Mum, go interview them two nuts!

 Court

CH went to our lawyer again today and "supposedly" we have court this Wed with his ex-wife.

Long story short......we pay her $450 per week alimony....this is NOT CHILD SUPPORT either, their children are full grown (and do not speak to her may I add) and we are trying to put a stop to the alimony.

Bottom line, we are broke and she sits on her ass all day and does nothing but party and harass us.

Added bonus her father passed away and was an account for Pfizer his whole life and left her millions in cash and stock.

Supposedly she ONLY has 750 thousand left of it, the poor baby.

Cross your fingers and toes and say a novena for us please.

We haven't had a vacation in 2 years and we struggle pay check to pay check.  CH works two jobs to support her!

My Brother

Spent time with my brother and father today.  My brother is mentally challenged and he is close to 400 lbs.  We got into it because I told him I would not buy him junk from the grocery store.

It's a vicious cycle with him.  He is looking for a job and said no one will hire him.  I told him he has to loose weight, people are not going to hire him looking like that (and he sometimes needs to be told to bathe and wash clothes).

I told him life is not fair but this is how it is........he's like a little boy.

All I can do is try.

 The Blogger Enquirer

Sunday's ace reporter will be Mum, I checked in with her today and she is on the story....I can't wait to see what she has !

Girl Preacher

If you talk the talk....it's time to walk the walk..

GP asked me to help out with this cause.

Please walk the walk.....

Did you know that one US dollar is enough to provide clean water for one African person for one year?

Did you know that the blogstream community, at this time, boasts 24,206 Members?

Did you know that if each person who blogs were to donate one dollar each, that would provide 24,206 wells?

Do you realize what would happen if we all, with our different politics, religions, views, lifestyles, put aside the differences and got together for this one thing?

"Why do we have to do this?" Some may ask.

"Why cant they dig their own damn wells!" Others may say.

"I have my own problems," You might grumble.

I only know this: That to whom much is given, much is expected. .

Even with our financial problems, America still has a strong enough economy that a dollar does not make or break the average person.

Even with the financial problems of most of the countries represented by blogstream members, most people can afford one dollar (or Euro, or Peso) Even MEXICO is better off than Africa right now.

Maybe you are right. Maybe they should dig their own wells. But if you have ever been so down that you cant get up without someone giving you a hand, you know how Africa collectivly feels.

Give a hand.
Make Africa strong.
To whom much is given, much is expected.

And so the challenge:
Today is May 24.
By June 24, lets see if everyone on Blogstream will donate one dollar.
One dollar!

How do we measure it?
We'll use the honor system.
On June 24, if you donated one dollar, make post a simple message that says "I donated one dollar"

24,206 Members
24,206 Dollars
24,206 men, women, children with clean water for a year.

A year
Enough time to get strong
Enough time to grow and harvast food
Enough time to get healty
Enough time to dig ones own well.

Please spread the word, guys.
Thanks.

Thank you so much GP for the wonderful idea.
And thank you for the information and research.
Let's all DO IT!

 Tuesday Question

TUESDAY QUESTION

Are you stressed?

What is Stress?

Stress is the "wear and tear" our bodies experience as we adjust to our continually changing environment; it has physical and emotional effects on us and can create positive or negative feelings.

As a positive influence, stress can help compel us to action; it can result in a new awareness and an exciting new perspective.

As a negative influence, it can result in feelings of distrust, rejection, anger, and depression, which in turn can lead to health problems such as headaches, upset stomach, rashes, insomnia, ulcers, high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke. With the death of a loved one, the birth of a child, a job promotion, or a new relationship, we experience stress as we readjust our lives.

In so adjusting to different circumstances, stress will help or hinder us depending on how we react to it.

***************************

What prompted me to ask this question is that I hate answering the phone, that is what stresses me out.  When my phone rings, my eyes automatically roll and I let out a uh-oh sigh.

Cuban Husband, my parents, my family, my friends, even my own children are upset with me because I rarely pick up the phone.

It has gotten to the point where I don't even look at my caller id to select who I want to speak to.

It has gotten to the point where days go by before I check my messages.

I finally explained it to CH this way; no one calls with good news anymore.  It's always bad news or complaints or aches and pains.  A lot of time it is    "I NEED"  or  "I WANT".

I have a hard enough time dealing with my own stresses in life without hearing even more, until I am ready, on my own terms.

I guess that is why I love blogging.  I choose who I want to speak to, and who I want to lend a shoulder to and when.

And most important it is reciprical...

********************

Today's Calls:

1) - CH panicking cause I didn't pick up my cell and he was afraid I got into a car accident.  He is away on business and is terrified something terrible will happen.

2) - My brother who is almost 400 lbs. is complaining that he has no food in the house.

3) - A family member has to quit college because her mother donates most of the family income to the church.

4) - Someone is scared because her little boy is beginning to walk and she is a nervous wreck about baby proofing the home.  Her husband is an alcoholic, her aunt is in a mental institute and she needs money.

5) - A close family member was diagnosed with prostate cancer today.  I am the only one who knows.

These are just the select few calls I chose to pick up today.

*****************

So my question is, is serenity just an illusion?

Is it so far out of reach that we cannot enjoy the  many blessings we do have?

Is there really a IF we had our health and IF we had more money and IF we had more time and IF my parents were better and IF my spouse only listened more and IF I was thinner, etc......we could be happy?

****************

How do you cope with stress in your life?

Do you hide like me or face it dead on?

****************

I always try remind myself there are others who have it a lot worse than me and I should feel blessed with all I do have.

I wish you all serenity, my friends....

I give Pink a lot of credit writing such an inspiring eye-opening song.

If you missed the previous post, go check it out.  It will be a regular installment on Sundays..

Thanks!

PINK

"Dear Mr. President"
(featuring The Indigo Girls)

Dear Mr. President
Come take a walk with me
Let's pretend we're just two people and
You're not better than me
I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly

What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street
Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep
What do you feel when you look in the mirror
Are you proud

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye
And tell me why

Dear Mr. President
Were you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
How can you say
No child is left behind
We're not dumb and we're not blind
They're all sitting in your cells
While you pave the road to hell

What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away
And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay
I can only imagine what the first lady has to say
You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye

Let me tell you bout hard work
Minimum wage with a baby on the way
Let me tell you bout hard work
Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away
Let me tell you bout hard work
Building a bed out of a cardboard box
Let me tell you bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
You don't know nothing bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
Oh

How do you sleep at night
How do you walk with your head held high
Dear Mr. President
You'd never take a walk with me
Would you

 Sunday - Interview

FONT>

Every Sunday, come read:

"THE BLOGGER ENQUIRER RAG"

"CAUSE WE ARE NOSEY & NEED TO KNOW"

ISSUE # 1

Interviewer - Lucy - questions in RED

Victim - Ain't Life Peachy or as I like to call her, MUM,

her answers are in BLACK

Okay Mum, are you nervous?

Well, now that I went ahead and read all the questions, I'm nervous now!! LOL!
I should have told you no cheating Mum !

I'll be gentle with you.
Now do remember how this goes?

No - please tell me again! :P

I interview you ten questions, then I will post the interview on my blog page on Sunday.

Sometime before next Sunday you need to interview someone else on Blogstream and then send me the interview and I will post it Sunday on "The Blogger Enquirer Rag" issue # 2 and so on.

Kind of like a blogstream interview chain letter.

You choose the next person you want to interview and you also choose you own set of ten questions.

I've decided that we should always keep question
# 10 as is as a staple for all interviews, that is my favorite question and tells alot about a person.
Plus, if I can, I will incorporate it into the edition.

Make sure you cut and copy the instructions for the next person so they know they must interview someone next & how it works.

The person you interview has to follow the same steps above, pick someone to interview and submit it to me for The Blogger Enquirer Rag before the following Sunday.

Okay - got it!!

Goodie......
Okay relax, take a deep breathe and I promise I will be gentle......here we go.
I'm relaxed......... bring it on!!
You're a good sport Mum or on some good medication.....

THE INTERVIEW

Okay ladies and gentlemen of blogstream, my special guest today is Life Is Peachy or Mum as I call her.
She is a lovely 37 year old woman from Canada has three kids and was one of my first, dearest blog friends.
She also was the person who gave me the blog name Lucy!

WAS one?? You mean, I'm not now???

Oopsie!  IS IS IS IS IS IS !!!  Ya know I love ya!
Do you have anything to add before we begin Mum?

Well, I'm truly honored Lucy that you asked me for your first interview - of all the wonderfully talented bloggers on this site, you've chosen the HockeyMum to be your guinea pig!!??

You are a brave girl  & you know I love ya !

Okay -  let me check my hair - good!
Nails - Good!
Shirt - no gaping buttons or unzipped zippers!
Shoes - nope, no shoes for this interview!
Makeup - check!
Hhmm....what else
Do I look okay?
Do I look fat in this???
OMG I'm so nervous............. LOL!!
You're looking good kidd-o, you make your Canadians proud!

My Canadian Motto - Save a tree, Eat a beaver!  hehe

I should have showed up for this interview in a helmet and hockey stick..... and you know I would!!
Although it IS May and it's time to show a little skin....

HockeyMum is quite the ice hockey nut !

Question # 1

I know you come from a very large family, if they all got together right now and had to come up with just one word to describe you best, what would that one word be?

Well its not one word - but they'd say I talk too much.
Or maybe the word is Talkative!

Hmmmm, I like chatter-box, that suits you.
Sure - Chatter-box is the word!  Most definitely.

Question # 2

What do you consider you're biggest character weakness?

This is easy!!
I have no backbone.
I have this crazy need to please everyone all the time, at all costs, sometimes to a fault!!
I can never say no to anyone and can never stand up for myself.
Well, ya gotta cut that out right now Mum!

Working on it!

Question # 3

If money and time were not a factor what would you like to study to become an expert in?

First choice:  Journalism
Second choice:  Massage Therapy or Reflexology
My thought too, message therapy, reflexology.....
anything Eastern.
Cool answer.

Yes, I've always loved going to a reflexologist - there is nothing in this world like getting a foot massage!!

Question # 4

If your house was on fire and everyone was out safe including your pets, and you had just 5 minutes to go in and grab a few things, what would you retrieve?

My box of photo albums!
I keep them a tote box just for this very reason!
They can be easily retrieved!
And I'd try to grab my mom's gold watch that's priceless to me.
I agree with the pictures.
Actually one of our bloggers could not submit a pix for the graduation yearbook because their house burnt down.....so sad.  Is your tote on wheels?

Nope, it's just a big assed-box - and it'll probably take a tractor to haul it out - but at least their all in one place.

lololol

Question # 5

This is a two-part question on vices......
favorite swear word & favorite cocktail.
(I know you are not a beer drinker)

Well I'm not much of a drinker at all - but if I do have a drink, I love Baha Rosa (tequila) or a good salty Caesar. (do you have those down there??)
And I like Long Island Iced Tea!
That stuff goes down like water!
Never heard of a Caesar but Long Island Iced Teas.....oh yeah!

A Ceasar is vodka, tomato juice or Clamato juice, tobasco sauce, salt and pepper - and the glass has a salted rim - I think it's like a Bloody Mary.

The Ceasar is the number 1 mixed drink in Canada and was "invented" in Alberta!
And now I'm craving one....

Yep, that sounds like a Bloody Mary.
They are good for a hangover!

I like a stalk of celery in mine and three big green olives & spicy......you can make it into a meal.
Someplaces even serve it with a shrimp hanging over the edge.

MMMM

My swear word of choice is probably "sonofabitch" .
And don't tell too many people this but for some reason  I love saying the word "cunt" like:
"You dirty cunt!"
when I'm really pissed off at something.
I usually only say it when I'm alone though cuz I think it's a little harsh.

But say it with me Lucy - doesn't that just roll off the tongue??
You CUNT!!
LOL!!
Oh my.......now that's a bad word from a sober girl!
That was a big surprise to me, ya nut!  lol

Well, I work with men all day so I hear them all...........
and I keep telling them all that size doesn't matter, but they don't believe me!! LOL!

LOLOLOL - Which brings me to my next question...

Question # 6

Length or Gurth?

Gurth - absolutely GURTH!!
That's a no-brainer!
(isn't it spelled GIRTH?)
See I got all excited when my mind started wandering around the penis.

Oh I understand completely!!!

Question # 7

What is the "grooviest" thing you have in your closet?

Do sex toys count as groovy??

Uh, no, not unless you plan on wearing them as an accesorry.

I still have my grade 12 High School leather jacket - and it still sorta fits - my boobs got bigger over the years!!!  And it's as ugly as they get too.
(the coat, not my boobs!)
But it has my name on the sleeve, the year I graduated and our high school logo - how could I not keep that?

Well, that could be considered groovy as well as um, let's say... nerdy Mum.....
Was it for sports or constant chattering?

I'm not sure what it was for actually!!
Not sports though.....

Another cool "groovy" thing in my closet are all my leg-warmers from the 80's! HAHA!!

Oh, gotta love that......did you have a "Flash Dance" cut off shirt too?

lololol

Question # 8

What three people would you like to meet in person from Blogstream and why?

Oh my gosh - just 3 ?
Are you serious ?
I'm going to name 3 - but not in any order and this is just 3 of the many I'd love to meet.
And these three are besides YOU, of course!

Thanks Mum

1 - KitKat (Just being me)

2 - Jackie (Coloconnect)

3 - The wonderful poet that writes "Soulmate Dreamer"

And again - three is not even scratching the surface..... This list should include anyone that's in my BM'd list of favorite blogs!!
It must be the name Jacque that you love so much. lol
Colo is like the momma blogstreamer of all of us.
Whenever I need a pick me up, I vent to her (and you).
She's a good friend.

Kitcat is a total riot isn't she?
She just goes with the flow, love her.
I would love to party with her.

I just started reading SoulMate.....he submitted a pix for our yearbook so you get to see him!
Petra7077 is quite a handsome fellow, if I may say so, and an awesome writer.

Yeah, it must be the name!!
Colo (Jackie) is most definitely the momma of all of us.... sometimes I think she must be a robot cuz she seems too perfect and she just has it all together, you know?
I can only dream to be half the person she is.

Kitkat is a riot and the most genuine person I've met in a long time.... besides you of course!

Thanks

SoulMate Dreamer - his poems are hypnotizing.....
I can't describe it.
I envy people that can write so well!

That's why I don't even attempt poetry here, it's too intimidating with all the brilliance on blogstream.

I'd also like to meet Pioneer, I wish he was more involved with us...he is always lurching around in the background somewhere, very mysterious.

Question # 9

If you were a piece of gum, who's mouth would you want to be in?  lol

Well - This is kind of a two-way question you know!!

Matthew McConaughey can chew on me anytime he wants !!     LOL!

OR

Maybe George Bush - and I'd try to choke him by getting caught at the back of his throat !!
Wow, you and I both with Matty Baby......great idea for
Bushy-Poo too....choke, choke !

And then - If I were in my husband's mouth, I'd magically turn into super glue and glue his mouth shut !! LOL!
Oh, my.....I kinda suspected that one was coming.

Question # 10

(keep this question for all interviews as #10 please)

What is in your CD player right now?

Let me go check..........

Hmm - this might be a Canadian thing and everyone out there is going "HUH ???",
but it's April Wine's Greatest Hits.

Anyone know them??
I love that CD -
I can sing every song on the whole darn CD.

Hmmmm, not sure if I ever heard of them.....
go find something we know.
I'll wait for ya.

Okay - next on the list is Meatloaf's Bat out of Hell.
Always been a fan of Meatloaf - love the lyrics, and his voice is amazing!!

That album should be a staple in everyone's CD collection....great choice.
I will check out April Wine.

Okay that concludes my crazy questions, some serious & some funny.
Aww!
It's done already ???
I was just getting started! ha!

I was easy on ya!
Don't be so easy on the next victim Mum....get down and dirty!

Love ya,
Lucy
xxx
&
thanks

This was great fun !!! :)
Glad ya liked it Mum......thank you so much for participating.
You are a good sport.

For your guest star appearance, as a parting gift you get
a brand new ...
your very own ...
Sushi Shower Curtain !

You will be the envy of your friends & family.
As you wash in uncooked, raw FISH !

(smiles and hugs Lucy!)
Thanks - this was fun - not too painful !!
Now for the next interviewee.......... who shall it be??????

Pick someone good......!

Good luck and thank you again !

This concludes the interview....
